It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder, Roy King, at the age of 83. In addition to his entrepreneurial spirit, we will remember Roy’s commitment to serving the needs of his employees and delighting his customers. These remain integral values in our company. Roy’s leadership laid the foundation for Symbiont Service Corp to flourish into company it is today, where his daughter, Sandy King, carries on his legacy as President.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sandy and her family for their loss. Below is Roy’s obituary, provided by his family:
“Roy Allen King was born on October 3, 1940 in Cincinnati, OH. He was the first-born child of Oid and Virginia King. Roy had a full life, attended Anderson High School, joined the navy at a young age and served his country for 4 years. He went on to a successful career as an entrepreneur and developed a geothermal pool heating system at the company he founded in Englewood, FL called Symbiont Service Corp. His daughter Sandy continues to run the company since his retirement. Roy loved to scuba dive, talk politics, cook, and write. He authored 4 books. One book is a technical book on geothermal pool heating and Roy is considered a leading expert in this area. The other 3 books were fictional novels enjoyed by many. Roy is survived by his wife, Karen, his siblings, Roger, Karen and Susan, his 5 children including Cathy, Mark, David, Sandy and Steve. He has 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Roy passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 21, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Cincinnati or Englewood Helping Hand.”
Roy will be missed. His memory will live on through the company he helped build and the people who loved him.
