What Happens During An A/C Inspection
If you live in Englewood, Florida chances are you already have an air conditioner in your home or your business. With the hot, humid weather that Florida gets an HVAC unit is a necessity. What happens during an A/C inspection is something that the air conditioning and geothermal professionals from Symbiont Air Conditioning get asked all the time.
We wanted to give a brief rundown of what our professional service technicians will do and why. The reason to schedule an inspection of the air conditioning unit is something that experts agree should happen at least two times a year — and the beginning and the ends of the season. Even though Florida’s weather is somewhat consistent and there may not be a clear line between Summer and Winter, you should still plan to have an inspection every six months.
What Happens During An A/C Inspection
The A/C maintenance inspection should include:
- Checking the motor, blower, drain coils, operating pressures and temperatures
- The return and supply lines will be inspected and cleaned and/or replaced
- Refrigerant levels will be checked and topped off
- All the connections will be inspected to ensure there are no loose or missing or damaged wires
- Every part of the unit will be inspected — interior and exterior
- Filters will be cleaned and/or replaced
If you schedule an HVAC inspection and you believe your unit is working as it should but the technician recommends a costly repair or replacement, don’t be scared into making a decision on the spot. Contact a different company and request a second opinion.
What can you do between service inspections and visits to ensure the air conditioner keeps operating properly?
- Clean and replace filters (ask us how)
- Make sure there is no debris around the exterior unit (grass clippings, etc.)
- Spray off the outside coils with a light spray from the hose to remove dirt, dust and debris
Our goal is to educate our customers about energy and home comfort issues (specific to HVAC systems). For information about zoning systems and other HVAC topics, download our free Home Comfort Resource guide.
