How To Prepare For Florida Hurricanes
How Can We Help You? Contact Us Today
In September 2017, the week before hurricane Irma hit Florida, we sent out information via email and social media posts to help people prepare their equipment for the storm. As we’re now well into the 2020 hurricane season, we wanted to share them with you again.
How To Prepare For Florida Hurricanes
Historically, July and August are more active hurricane months due to tropical waters warming up, and as you know 2020 has been forecast as a busy storm season. Joining Sandy to discuss our services is our lead service technician, Jimmy Dietrich.
Some key points to remember:
- Your Symbiont GeoThermal Pool Heater installation does include hurricane-rated tie-down straps.
- With potential storm surges and power outages, as you are preparing your property and pool for the effects of a storm, we recommend you turn off all high voltage power sources to pool heaters and pumps at the circuit breakers.
- After the storm, as you begin to bring your pool equipment back online, if your equipment has been submerged in water, we advise not turning on your equipment until a qualified technician has inspected and certified that it is safe to use.
- We’ll inspect pumps all, magnetic starters, variable frequency drives, and any controls that may have been exposed to moisture, and also check the ground and bonding wire to ensure it hasn’t been compromised.
- On our website is a list provided by Commercial Energy Specialists about water levels, chemistry, and filtration equipment preparation suggestions.
